I Can Understand Why Blackberry Stock Is Down 80%

Count me as one of the millions of blackberry users out there. I got a Blackberry Bold 9700 18 months ago. Fast forward to today I have a little problem with my phone. The stupid thing only works when using speakerphone or a headset. You push the phone to your ear and nothing, no sound nothing. That is an issue with you are dealing with a phone. Having my phone on speaker isn’t practial at times and I forbid to turn myself into one of those people with a ear clip to talk on the phone.
What bugs me is the bigger issue that most things made today are utter crap. I realize I’m going to go on a back in the day rant but I remember my dad had a fridge so old that I’m sure this fridge alone caused a hole in the ozone layer but you know what it worked. The damn thing worked before I was born and it worked til it’s final day in 2008 when my dad threw it away cause he didn’t need it anymore. Furthermore if you are ever in a landfill site and you see a fridge with a Mike Mcphee NHL all-star sticker on it I’m sure if you plugged that sucker in today it would still work.
My Blackberry however only 18 months old doesn’t serve the main function for it’s purpose. Now most people who know me quickly come to realize that I hate talking on the phone so it’s not like I miss the actual talking to people. Everything else works fine, bbm, txt, the net, twitter etc etc but the fact that I have a $500 (at the time) phone which no longer allows me to listen to a person on the other end of the line annoys the hell out of me. I’ll bring it in at some point to get it fixed but I can assure you when I get a new phone it won’t be a blackberry.

As you correctly noted, it’s not just Blackberry that has this problem. I had similar issues with an HTC phone I had before. I’ve found Samsung’s phones to be really reliable though.

I still use the same ‘dumb’ phone purchased >5 years ago. My son has since been through 3 phones, my daughter & wife are both on their 2nd phones. Too much of this ‘make it inexpensive’ (ha ha) which equals cheap in many cases. It’s too bad that even expensive items crap out so easily. Still, not quite sold on going back to pony express & smoke signals.

I’ve seen this before. the little clip in the 3.5mm jack might be stuck. I fixed this by cuting the soft side of a q-tip off and then press the cut side down into the jack. there will be a piece that needs to be clicked down.
Your might not be the exact problem but it sounds like it is, if the regular speaker for your ear is not working. It’s worth a try.
Hope this helps,
Joey

Thanks, I believe that is the issue as well reading up on it. I’ve used a dust cleaner to blow any dust/crap out of there and been sticking a million different things so no luck yet.
Thanks for helping me out.
