Atletico Madrid Sign Radamel Falcao & Ruben Micael

Friday, August 19th, 2011

Atletcio Madrid have signed former Porto players Falcao and Ruben Michael for a combined €45 million. Sadly the writting was on the wall the second Sergio Aguero was sold to Manchester City and Falcao did Porto the favour of signing a new deal with a higher release clause.

I get it Atletico Madrid play in a much better league and Falcao will make much more than he made at Porto but still it’s not exactly a step up in teams then again Real Madrid and Chelsea never came calling. 40 million for Falcao at the end of the day is another example of great business for Porto who in two years have made a killing thanks to Falcao play. Ruben Micael isn’t a player to sleep on either, he never really got a crack in the Porto first team but the talent is there to the point where he may end up being a steal for Atletico Madrid. Michael couldn’t play for Porto yet he scored two goals in his first game with the Portuguese national team.

When you look at the bigger picture you can see why Porto have sold Radamel Falcao and how it was pretty much in the cards all along. Here are the players Porto have bought this summer.

Danilo – 13m Euro (Santos)
Alex Sandro – 9.6m Euro (Santos)
Mangala – 7m Euro (Standard)
Defour – 6m Euro (Standard)
Iturbe – 2.5m Euro (Cerro Porteno)
Kelvin – 2.5m Euro (Parana)
Kléber – 2.4m Euro (Atletico Mineiro)

Hulk – 40% more for 13.5m Euro
João Moutinho – 22.5% more for 4m Euro
James – 30% more for 2.25m Euro

Total – 62.75m Euro

If you think a club like Porto can spend 60 million in the transfer market, well you’d be wrong. They got 45 million for Falcao and Michael and the 15 million for Andre Villas Boas and guess what number you have? 60 million which pretty much balances the books.

Daily Mirror

Left-back Jose Enrique – who left Newcastle for Liverpool last week – claims Toon players are nervous about the club’s future which is why they want to leave.

You know if I was some billionaire looking to dump vast amounts of money into a football club Newcastle would be high on the list of clubs I’d buy.

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is joining Manchester City – but has admitted he would rather have joined United, Barcelona or Real Madrid.

I get it, Nasri is a fine player but it’s not like Manchester City has had huge success buying Arsenal players previously.

Blackburn have agreed a £6m fee for Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic and hope to seal a deal for Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Simon Vukcevic today.

Both players I actually kind of like.

The Sun

Chelsea still want to sign Spurs midfielder Luka Modric and are set to offer £30m plus Yossi Benayoun.

I’m sure Yossi Benayoun is going to push this offer over the top.

QPR and Norwich are leading the chase for Hull midfielder Jimmy Bullard who has had his contract terminated by the Tigers.

Have a feeling the second after Bullard signs he’s strain a hamstring or something.

Fulham are lining up a bid for FC Twente winger Bryan Ruiz.

I’m shocked more clubs haven’t made bids for Bryan Ruiz. Been a top player in Holland for awhile now.

the Daily Telegraph

Chelsea last night bid £27million for the Spain international Juan Mata as manager Andre Villas-Boas made a decisive move to improve his squad before the transfer window closes.

It says something about La Liga when Valencia could sell three players for 100 million dollars and yet when all three of them were on the team they couldn’t come close to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

No reason why I have posted this today.

Daily Mirror

Harry Redknapp has admitted for the first time that Tottenham could sell Chelsea target Luka Modric this summer.

Redknapp has changed his tune where he pretty much said Modric wouldn’t be sold at any cost.

Samir Nasri is on the verge of completing a £22million move from Arsenal to Manchester City.

Arsenal won’t miss him….sadly I really don’t have faith in Arsenal to reinvest that money in a player or two who can help them now.

Harry Redknapp believes Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor could be a “sensational” signing for Tottenham.

He would be an upgrade to Peter Crouch. Plus you know Adebayor would love to stick it to Arsenal.

West Ham are hoping to offload Scott Parker to QPR and Carlton Cole to Fulham

If Scott Parker wishes to stay on the England team he’ll need to play for an EPL team even if it is Q.P.R.

Liverpool are lining up a cash-plus-players deal for Bolton defender Gary Cahill.

Cahill didn’t hurt his stock any with his great goal on the weekend.

Chelsea have had a £22million bid for Juan Mata rejected by Valencia.

Like Mata but he isn’t a good fit for Chelsea.

Fulham are ready to offer £1.4million for Porto right-back Miguel Lopes.

They are a handful of players who don’t see the light of day at Porto who could help out many EPL clubs.

Daily Telegraph

Chelsea were in negotiations with Porto on Wednesday night to sign Joao Moutinho and Alvaro Pereira.

As a Porto fan can’t wait til this transfer window shuts.

EPL Gossip Wednesday August 17th

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

BBC for some reason isn’t listing their daily rumours so I’m taking the headlines from skysports.

Daily Mirror

Samir Nasri admits he is close to leaving Arsenal and that his transfer saga has left him “bitter and angry”.

Arsenal fans should thank Nasri for all the titles he won for them….oh wait.

Sir Bobby Charlton has warned Manchester United keeper David De Gea that no player is safe under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Nice of the old man to say it to the press. Like the kid doesn’t feel the pressure already.

Everton are in talks with Manchester City about Nedum Onuoha.

Considering he is one of the few Manchester City players who aren’t making a fortune Everton would be wise to snap up Onuoha.

Juventus have tabled a new offer for Chelsea defender Alex.

I would hate to be in a wall when Alex is about to fire a free kick.

The Sun

Wesley Sneijder will slash his pay demands to ensure his move to Manchester United goes through.

How often does a player slash his wages? It’s not like playing for Inter Milan is a bad option.

Newcastle have been told to stump up £2million if they want Wayne Bridge on loan.

That should be a no from Newcastle’s side.

Bolton boss is waiting on decisions from his two top transfer targets Shaun Wright-Phillips and David Ngog.

Shaun Wright-Phillips would be a good fit for Bolton, David Ngog I never saw the appeal.

Daily Star

Tottenham are close to sealing a season-long loan deal for Manchester City’s former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Good move for Tottenham as Adebayor grew up a lot as a player with Real Madrid last season.

Raul has told Blackburn: “I don’t want to move to Ewood Park.

and who can blame him?

Sergio Aguero has urged compatriot Carlos Tevez to stay at Manchester City.

After Monday’s game Aguero should finish that sentance by saying Tevez should stay at Manchester City as my back up.

Fulham are leading the chase for £2million-rated Italy defender Cristian Zaccardo.

Nothing against Zaccardo but when you are rated at 2 million pounds it isn’t much of a chase.

The Prodigal Son Has Returned To Barcelona

Monday, August 15th, 2011

It’s about damn time that this Cesc Fabregas transfer sags is over as the former Arsenal player moves on to Barcelona for a transfer fee up to 39 million. Now I’m going to contiune doing what I do oh so often and that is rip Arsenal for the way they handled this. Barcelona basically knocked the front door down, ate all the food, took all the china and left the place a mess for Arsenal to clear up.

I still can’t understand how Wenger with a straight face only a couple of days ago could flat out lie and say he expects no players to leave. It’s a damn shame Arsenal don’t have an owner who has any vision for this club cause Wenger should be answering a lot of tough questions right now. This is Arsenal right now, they can’t sign World Class players because they are “too expensive” and even when they produce a so called world class player he is going to want to leave for bigger and better things like Cesc did.

Arsenal could of played this so much better, they should of sold Cesc the second the season ended and spun it as they sold a player for 40 million that they pretty much stole eight years ago. Then right after spend that 40 million of players to give Arsenal fans hope going into the season. Now Arsenal fans have little hope cause even they know Wenger doesn’t get it anymore. It was beyond foolish that Arsenal let this drag onto the season which showed in their performance against Newcastle on the weekend.

Now with Cesc playing for Barcelona are they going to play a 2-7-1, I’m sure they will make it work but boy do they have a ton of midfielders. I do hope Barcelona falls and that the fans turn on Cesc. It would be karma for leaving a club where the fans blindly always sided with him even when it was clear his heart wasn’t into being Arsenal’s leader anymore.

EPL Gossip Monday August 15th

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is considering a move for Celtic’s Northern Ireland international winger Paddy McCourt after the 27-year-old starred for his country against the Faroe Islands last week.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Because you really want to sign a player based upon his play against the Faroe Islands.

One man who appears to be on his way out of Anfield is midfielder Christian Poulsen, who hopes to seal a move away from the club this month. The Denmark international, who only joined last summer, is surplus to requirements and is keen for regular first-team football having only made nine league starts.
Full story: Daily Mail

Liverpool have so much dead wood they need to clear out. Also next time play Raul Meireles from the start. I think King Kenny doesn’t like Portuguese people.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp may try to sign West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie if Peter Crouch leaves. Full story: Daily Mirror

It would be nice if Harry Redknapp tired to sign somebody.

Tottenham have accepted a £1.8m bid from LA Galaxy for striker Robbie Keane.
Full story: Daily Mail

Good for Robbie Keane. His European career was never going to be the same after Liverpool quickly sold him back to Tottenham. I mean really was Keane going be geared up to play for Leicester City? Keane will now be able to start fresh again with a new experience. Besides life in LA isn’t all that bad when you are pulling down five million a season.

Newcastle have raised their bid for PSV Eindhoven left-back Erik Peters to £7m in the hope of tying up a deal in time for the Tyne-Wear derby on Saturday. The club sold regular left-back Jose Enrique to Liverpool last week. Full story: Daily Mail

I’ve enjoyed the fact that Newcastle isn’t linking themsleves with players they have no chance of signing.

Blackburn’s ambitious hopes of landing Raul from Schalke have been boosted by a stand-off between the Spaniard and coach Ralf Rangnick. The 34-year-old striker made a point of not celebrating after scoring against Cologne on Saturday and the Ewood Park club, Malaga and Russian side Anzhi are showing an interest in signing him. Full story: Daily Mail

I have no clue how a coach couldn’t get along with Raul. I don’t care if former teammate Míchel Salgado plays for Blackburn, there is no way Raul goes there.
