EPL Gossip Monday June 27th

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Manchester United have made a shock bid for Barcelona’s Spanish Euro Under-21 Championships star Thiago Alcantara. Full story: Daily Mirror

Why would it be a shock? Thiago has a huge road block facing him at Barcelona. If anything it would be a shock for Barcelona to sell him as he is a great insurance policy.

Arsenal have made Valencia midfielder Juan Mata, another star of Spain’s U21 side, their top summer transfer target. The Gunners have offered £18m for the 23-year-old.
Full story: Daily Mail

Arsenal must hate this news leaking up before any deal is made.

Robbie Keane’s career at Spurs looks set to be coming to an end, with Blackburn keen on signing the 30-year-old. Full story: Metro

With Mirko Vučinić having no interest in Blackburn, Robbie Keane is about the best Blackburn will get.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas will make a double raid on Tottenham with a £60m bid for midfielder Luka Modric and the left-sided Gareth Bale. Full story: Caught Offside

Going to be a long summer for Tottenham fans with all these rumours.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp hopes to offload Mexican midfielder Giovani Dos Santos to Seville, but the Spanish club have yet to meet the £6.5m asking price. Full story: The Sun

If Seville watched the gold cup finals they would meet that price in a heartbeat.

Chelsea are set to offer Didier Drogba – and £7m – in exchange for Galatasaray winger Arda Turan, 24. Full story: Daily Express

Good luck getting Drogba to go to Turkey.

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa could move to Besiktas after he was only given a one-year contract extension by the Blues. Full story: The Sun

Every other player at Besiktas, might as well add another one.

Manchester City are lining up a triple swoop for Fiorentina midfielder Alessio Cerci, 23, Partizan Belgrade defender Stefan Savic, 20, and 24-year-old Argentina international keeper Sergio Romero. Full story: The Sun

Why? None of them would start for Manchester City.

Aston Villa will buy Birmingham keeper Ben Foster after a ‘cooling-off period’ with boss Alex McLeish and they will also sign Charles N’Zogbia from Wigan. Full story: Daily Mirror

Charles N’Zogbia would be a perfect choice for Aston Villa to replace Ashley Young.

Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Charlie Adam, the Blackpool midfielder, with Jonjo Shelvey moving in the opposite direction on a season-long loan. The Anfield club are also set to sign Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing. Full story: The Independent

Charlie Adam has done real well for himself since being a Rangers cast off.

Inter Hire Gian Piero Gasperini As Coach

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Rafa Benitez soon found out you can’t replace Jose Mourinho but former Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini should have no trouble replacing Leonardo as head coach of Inter even if he was the 6th choice for the role.

Gasperini was well liked and more importantly well respect by his Genoa players during his 4 years there and to his credit he left the club in better shape then when he took over. Is this appointment a home run for Inter? Well, no but there are some pluses. Gasperini knows how to get the most of Diego Milito plus with all that attacking talent Inter have you know he isn’t going to try and counter attack. I think most of the Inter players are going to enjoy playing for Gasperini and that is half the battle right there. Now the only question is will he be able to not only create a tactic to score goals but to also keep the back from out of the back of Inter’s net as well.

Peter Falk Dead At 83

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Peter Falk from Columbo died last night he was 83. Truthfully never liked Columbo all that much. I was much more a Kojak fan. Peter Falk however was great in the Princess Bridge. Anytime I can link a youtube video with Fred Savage in it I will.

Falk suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for many years. Many that is an awful way to go. Growing old sucks.

Last Post Of The Week – Monopoly

Friday, June 24th, 2011

I love Monopoly but sadly you look like a total dork asking people to play Monopoly with you. When I was 16 I played in a Best of Toronto Monopoly Tournament. It was me, this 13 year girl. this mid 30′s banker and some college student. The Monopoly tournament was decided on who had the most assets after 90 minutes of play. Long story short I counted in my head that I had $800 more in asset then the 13 year girl. It was my turn to roll and I was on St James Place place and she had the Red’s all hotel’d up. It was less then a minute left and at the start of the tournament the tournament director clearly said you have a minute to roll the dice or lose your turn. Since it was less than a minute left I said to the tournament director “I technically don’t have to roll this dice don’t I?” The tournament director then said ‘Well, Yes but that would be bad sportsmanship.” Fuck sportsmanship this is Monopoly I just leaned back and watch the clock count down. The best part was this little girl’s family was there and everyone from her parents to grandmother were screaming and swearing at me. Yes, I’m a prick but I didn’t care I wanted to win my table and advance. So naturally the clock stops and because I’m an awful human being I then rolled the dice. Of course I rolled seven and would of landed on Indiana Avenue.

I Love The Smiths….U2 Not So Much

Friday, June 24th, 2011

I love music and I also hate talking about music cause I respect the fact there is no right and wrong. You like who you like and I respect that. With that out of the way I’m going to be a hypocite to those words as I loved reading about a protest of people annoyed at U2 dodging taxes in Ireland. U2 is the wal-mart of music. Widely accessible but utterly swallow. Bono goes on about making the world a better place yet with Ireland in trouble they paid their taxes to the Netherlands. I’m tired of seeing Bono rubbing shoulders with world leaders just sing With or Without You damnit.

As for me I stopped liking most music after 1989 (U2 ended for me after the Joshua Tree). Today I mostly like bands who sound like 80′s bands. The older I get the more I love the Smiths. It’s weird to me as they are uplifting. The second life knocks you down I can play a Smiths song and know that someone relates and it isn’t the end of the world. Also in the 25 years since they have broken I have yet come across a band who comes close to the Smiths.

Who In The World Goes To Shoe Repair Stores?

Friday, June 24th, 2011

I was thinking about something the other day going past the not one, not two, but three shoe repair stores in my area. I’m in my early 30′s and I have never even considering going to a shoe repair store. I then took an informal poll of ten people who a) give me a weird look as to why I’m asking this question and b) then answered no they’ve never been a shoe repair store. To top it off I called my dad who when I was a kid for two years wore a busted sandle with a strap falling to the side and he too never been to a shoe repair store and he is old and cheap.

In other words how in the world hasn’t the shoe repair business gone the way of the old Italian guy riding his bike and ringing his bell to sharpen knifes or the Cynar trucks full of cheaply made pop? I’m convinced that if you quietly walk into a shoe repair store and ask for a large amouth of Crystal Meth Vincenzo will take you downstairs to his sercet lab.

Sinnacle.com Is Changing

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Six months ago the idea came into my head to create a new website but me being lazy I decided to sit on it cause I didn’t have the time to build a website from the ground up. Six months later I decided to merge everything into this website that I have three years built into it. First off none of the soccer stuff is changing basically everything I’ve done on this site won’t change. Every morning I’ll do my EPL Gossip and other stuff about soccer that interests me. What I am doing is adding on to the site.

Now I’m not changing the world or anything. I’m just making this site to an overall blog where I’ll give my warped view about things that pop into my head. So for whatever reason if you wanted to know more about me then you are in luck. I also know that most of you are either from oversea’s or the States. With that being the case I’m sorry about boring you to death about topics only people from Toronto may get from time to time. You can scroll down to the Soccer stuff and as always thank you for visiting.

EPL Gossip Friday June 24th

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Arsenal have rejected a £27m offer from Barcelona for midfielder Cesc Fabregas, with the London club placing a minimum £44m valuation on the 24-year-old. Full story: Daily Telegraph

Manchester City have been told they will need to pay £44m if they want to secure the signing of Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez. Full story: the Sun

I loved how the Udinese said if Barcelona thinks Cesc Fabregas is worth 35 million then Alexis Sanchez is worth 45 million. Nice work.

West Brom goalkeeper Scott Carson is edging closer to a move to Turkey. Discussions between the Baggies and Bursaspor are ongoing and could be concluded within the next 24 hours.
(Press Association)

I rather if Scott Carson will be one of the rare English players to adapt to a foregin country.

Arsenal have reopened negotiations with Argentine side Velez Sarsfield regarding midfielder Ricardo Alvarez, who is also wanted by Inter Milan, Malaga, Sevilla, Roma and Schalke.
Full story: Daily Mail

In other words Arsenal will lose out on Alvarez.

Tottenham have moved a step closer to signing former Manchester United forward Diego Forlan after Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo confirmed the striker’s “first choice would be England”.
Full story: Metro

Forlan is going to break the bank from a wage point of view but then again his transfer fee shouldn’t be too over the top.

Chelsea will not pay £45m for highly-rated Santos forward Neymar, who is also wanted by Real Madrid. Full story: Daily Express

I don’t see Neymar and Ronaldo getting along.

Manchester United will not stop at the signing of Ashley Young with manager Sir Alex Ferguson set to break the £80m barrier for the summer by bringing in Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea and Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric. Full story: Metro

After locking up Jones and Young I’m sure Manchester United is now focusing on David De Gea.

Chelsea are closing in on the £26.5m signing of Porto striker Radamel Falcao after the 25-year-old accepted a £5m-a-year contract in principle. Full story: Daily Mail

New Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas could be open to the idea of striker Didier Drogba staying at Stamford Bridge, despite the imminent arrival of Falcao. Full story: Daily Telegraph

Forget about Drogba but for the life of me I can not understand Chelsea wanting Falcao. If Villas-Boas does go 4-3-3 there is little chance Falcao and Torres can share the same space and I can’t see Torres playing out wide. The only way Falcao and Torres can work well together if they play two up front.

Liverpool are ready to sell midfielder Raul Meireles despite his fine end to last season with Juventus offering £13.5m for the Portuguese international. Full story: Metro

I’ve heard rumours of this for a while now and I don’t like it. Really Liverpool you are going to sell one of the two players you have (Dirk Kuyt) being the other that play at their best in big games. Meireles is the only one who can talk about what it takes to win a league (don’t even mention Joe Cole) and they are going to show him the door for Jordan Henderson and Lucas. Juventus would be very smart to grab Meireles and dump Felipe Melo.

Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez is wanted by Spanish clubs Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.
Full story: the Sun

Both clubs could of had him for next to nothing two years ago.

Stoke are the latest club linked with Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, with manager Tony Pulis ready to make a £6m bid for the England Under-21 international.
Full story: Daily Mirror

You know what Sturridge wouldn’t do so bad in Chelsea’s 4-3-3 system out wide. Villas-Boas can show tapes of Silvestre Varela last year with Porto on how to use his speed to get by defenders.

Mexico striker Carlos Vela has been told by Arsenal that he will not be sold this summer.
Full story: the Sun

Cause few teams would want him.

Paul Robinson would be proud of Canada’s u17′s

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

First the England u21 bow out in the group stage on the UEFA 21 Championship which might as well be given to Spain to save us some time and now the u17′s give up a goal to the goalie against Canada for crying out loud in the u17 World Cup.

EPL Gossip Thursday June 23th

Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has cast doubt over his future at Ewood Park by claiming he would leap at the chance to leave if a “good opportunity” arose. Samba also suggested that Rovers are talking to clubs interested in signing the 27-year-old. Full story: L’Equipe

Samba should leave even if a decent opportunity arose.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle could be without influential midfielder Stuart Holden until October. The United States international missed the last two months of last season with a serious knee injury, which required surgery. Holden set himself a return date of September but Coyle said the club’s medical team were being more cautious. Full story: Press Association

Holden broke his leg last year, torn up his kness this year. Not a good run for Holden, hope he bounces back and stays fit.

Former Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has emerged as the leading candidate to take over at Inter Milan. Inter President Massimo Moratti said a decision on the appointment of a new manager is due before the weekend. Reuters

Gasperini was loved by his Genoa players for his attacking style of play. Winning over the players is half the battle and Gasperini should get Inter to enjoy playing his style of football.

Sunderland’s bid for Ipswich teenager Connor Wickham may come to nothing as the striker is waiting for a move to Liverpool or Arsenal. Metro

In five years I think Wickham will be considered a better striker than Andy Carroll. Somebody should sign him up this summer.

Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has moved a step closer to joining Fulham after the Cameroon international admitted he “would love” to play in the Premier League.
Full story: talkSport

One more reason fiting tooth and nail to keep Mark Schwarzer last year was dumb. Kameni would be a soild number 1 but then again so would current Fulham backup David Stockdale.

Manchester City are closing in on £20m-rated Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho.
Full story: the Sun

Porto still have some sell on clauses attached to Cissokho so I’m sure they would love this to happen.

Chelsea have valued their England Under-21 defender Ryan Bertrand at £5m. However, he may be allowed to go out on loan for a season, with West Brom, Wolves, Bolton, Fulham and Nottingham Forest all interested. Full story: the Sun

The player with Chelsea and most top English clubs are players like Ryan Bertrand are left to rot on the bench or in a lower league. Any other country in the world teams would be looking to bring up a home grown player into the first team.

Former England, Newcastle and Ipswich manager Sir Bobby Robson labelled Andre Villas-Boas, who has been appointed the new manager at Chelsea, as “something special” a decade ago, according to ex-Tractor Boys boss George Burley. Daily Mirror

I’m still sad over Villas-Boas leaving. You know the five million Chelsea are paying him considering how bloody expensive London is isn’t that much different than the one million Porto were paying him. One more year that’s all I was asking for. Now I feel like a Montreal Expos fan after 1994 always asking what if.
