Eric Hassli Wonder Goal vs Seattle

In a league which will always be devoid of the type of players who can make magichappen in a blink of an eye this goal by Eric Hassli is top class no matter who league you are playing in.

This goal ought back fond memories of Maniche goal against Holland in the finals of Euro 2004. (Yes I consider that game the final as Euro 2004 ended there as far as I’m concerned.

It will always be devoid really ? Always ? The league is little over 16 years old, and is already better than leagues in Europe. How good do you want it to be already? the Prem….Get off your high horse bro. Porto, Braga, and Benfica all still suck….Shut up!!

Always good to hear from the Sepcial One

As for the word always…..fine that may be too strong of a word but til MLS is able to sign up and coming talents from South America/Europe and keep young American players from wanting to run to Europe right away my opinion will stand that the MLS is tactically well played but few players can produce moments of magic like that Eric Hassli goal. With Don Garber I don’t see MLS making that break through in the next ten years. Yes, I do realize it’s also a chicken and egg thing which do you first….invest in players through the transfer market and hope revenues rise or wait til MLS develops on it’s current path. Maybe I’m a jaded TFC fan who sees the team pocket 5 million a year yet have failed to put a winning product.

Hey Porto and Benfica do not suck!!!! You also forgot Sporting in your list.

I just want the MLS to grow into a league without these quasi American professional league rules. One of the problems with MLS is the fact it tried to suit soccer to the way American sports are run when MLS should embrace the differences with soccer and American sports leagues. They should introduced regulation when it started (no way they can do it now sadly) instead of trying to be a light version of NFL, NBA, NHL they should of used the European model and try to play in the transfer market. (I’m fine with the salary cap however)

If I’m a Seattle fan one of the 30k plus they attract it’s going to annoy me after awhile that I’m paying for a product which by and large can’t attract A or B level players. Something I’m already seeing in Toronto. I’m not asking for MLS to be the EPL. I am hoping the MLS could grow into a league that can develop and keep a talented offensive core group of players, players who will view MLS as a worthy league to play in, instead of a stepping stone to Europe or a place to finish off your career.

Thank you for your comment and checking out my site….I shall read off on my horse.

Amen on relegation…. I would have also liked to get rid of this ‘playoffs’ – your season standing & kudos are based on what you do all season. I’ll betcha though, if the European leagues were just starting out now, there would be no relegation.

dude what the hell? calm down.

Obviously as he said always might be a little strong but its fair to say that the MLS is still years and year away from having magical players in any significant number. Also how many top flight european leagues is the mls actually better than? Its better than the irish league, the welsh and then you’ve really gotta go to eastern europe. Porto suck? doesn’t even bare thinking about what that team would do to this league. It wouldn’t be pretty.

I have a passing interest in the MLS because i love the game and i love some american sports and how there presented and id be fascinated to see what football would be like if it became main stream in america. However at the moment the standard of the league is under estimated by the majority of europeans but is over estimated by the majority of north americans. Its still got a long way to go
