Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan is a shock transfer target for Real Madrid. The Ghana international, a £13m club record buy from Rennes last summer, has hit six goals for the Black Cats.

When you are up for African player of the year I’m sure clubs will be looking into you. Still can’t see Real Madrid making a move. While Real Madrid have never been known to go the cheap and easy way it doing so would lead to Emmanuel Adebayor. Manchester City would see it as a feather in their cap sending Adebayor to Real Madrid.
Bottom-of-the-table West Ham hope to sign Joey Barton from Newcastle in a £5m deal in January, with the controversial midfielder’s future at St James’ Park in doubt following the sacking of his manager and mentor Chris Hughton. Daily Mirror

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson may be forced to reverse his decision not to speak to the BBC as the Premier League plans to introduce rules that will require managers and players to talk to the press after every match or face a fine. The Guardian

Don’t like the move to force people to talk to the press. Feels like another step towards the ridiculous north american sports thing of the media being allowed everywhere e.g. changing rooms! Also seen more than enough interviews where managers and players are so used to the media twisting everything they say that they just say the same old cliches to stay safe. Nobody gains any insight from this stuff. I say unless a player or manager wants to talk then just leave it.
