EPL Gossip Friday December 3rd
In this special Qatar edition of EPL Gossip I’m still wondering if Qatar is pronounced like “cutter.” Which made me think of the highly underated Echo and the Bunnymen song “The Cutter” and the line “spare us the cutter.”
On the flip side is Qatar pronounced like guitar only with a Q instead of a G?
If that is the case then I bring you the massively underrated George Harrison while my quitar (spelt that way on purpose.) gently weeps. On the subject of George Harrison what I liked most about him is the fact I truly believe he made music for himself. He didn’t care if one people or a million loved it. John and especially Paul loved the connection their music made with fans (nothing wrong with that.) George just did his thing and if you liked it great, if not he was still counting that Beatles money anyway. Again just my opinion, awesome musican.
On to the reason you come to this site I guess.
Chelsea and Manchester City target David Luiz admits he does not know if he’ll still be a Benfica player after January. The 23-year-old defender, who could cost £25m, has also been linked with Spanish sides Real Madrid and Barcelona. Daily Mirror
Benfica better gear up for Europa League success. Eight points back of undefeated Porto is a tough hill to climb. As for David Luiz the same 25 million that is out there now will be there in the summer. Little chance they sell him now and risk dropping down a spot as it could cost them Champions League money.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini will offload six of former boss Mark Hughes’s signings in the January transfer window. Joleon Lescott, Wayne Bridge, Shay Given, Roque Santa Cruz, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Emmanuel Adebayor have all been told they can leave. Daily Mirror
I know Lescott was a key player for Everton but they must love the fact Manchester City foolishly paid so much money for him.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce fears striker Danny Welbeck’s good form could price him out of making his loan from Manchester United into a permanent move. Daily Mirror
The reality of it is when you’ve spent 10 plus million on Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan plus you have an injuried Fraizer Campbell on the books there is little room for another high priced striker.
West Ham could move for Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell in the January transfer window.
Full story: talkSPORT
It does make sense as I’m sure Aston Villa would love to send Sidwell on his way. Plus he wouldn’t cost West Ham a ton.
Tottenham midfielder Giovani dos Santos could reject interest from clubs in Mexico to join Italian side Genoa. talkSPORT
Genoa would be a great place for dos Santos to kick start his stalled career.
Aston Villa are keen on West Ham striker Frederic Piquionne and want to team him with Tottenham’s Robbie Keane in a new look attack. Daily Mail
Nothing against Piquionne and Keane both are fine players but not the smartest move if you are looking to rebuild your club around two 30 year old players. Can see Keane going to Aston Villa but not the both of them.
Have a great weekend everyone.
