There Is Only One Sinnacle

Could Fifa award the World Cup any further away from me as Russia broke the hearts of England Portugal and Spain to host the 2010 World Cup and Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup. A first for a middle eastern nation.

Despite the flaws and my heart break over the Portugal-Spain bid failing I can at least understand Russia being choosen as the weather in the summer should still be fine with football. (Yes I know weather is the last of Fifa’s concerns here) Plus the World Cup would transform the landscape of Russian football which Fifa always likes to see. The Portugal-Spain and England bids were pretty much ready made with their current stadiums. Each country could host it tomorrow if need be.

Qatar is simply a case of enough money being paid to the right people. it’s going to be 50 degrees out there, I don’t care if they have some super Air Conditioning. Combine that with the fact Qatar is a country which doesn’t allow alcohol should make for a great World Cup. What happens if Isreal makes the World Cup? This of course is the same country which wouldn’t grant an Israeli tennis player a visa to enter the country. This is Sepp Blatter once again trying to prove how football can change the world. We get it already with South Africa 2010.
