The rich get richer in Italy as Inter Milan sign former Lazio star Goran Pandev on a free transfer. Both Inter and Pandev should be delighted with this move. Inter gets a striker who on his day can be a match winner without paying a transfer fee and Pandev gets gets another shot at making the club which he previously called home. Classic case of low risk high potenial at display here with Pandev well suited to the Italian game.
David Bentley could be off to Atletico Madrid in a loan deal, with the 25-year-old winger desperate for a move away from Tottenham. Full story: Daily Mirror
Or Bentley will stay closer to home after Sunderland manager Steve Bruce declared his interest in securing the services of the former England man. Full story: The Sun
Bentley must be happy somebody wants him as Tottenham sure as hell don’t. Atletico Madrid would be interesting. Despite the lack of success British players find aboard, Bentley wouldn’t be the worst choice to replace the soon to be departing Maxi Rodriguez.
Steve Bruce found success picking up Darren Bent from Tottenham scarp heap so it makes sense for Bruce to try his luck again with Bentley.
American star Freddy Adu, who once had a trial at Manchester United, is considering a move to Hull City after the Portuguese side Belenenses told the 20-year-old he can look for other employers. Daily Mirror
They should remove Carmen San Diego and rename it where in the world if Freddy Adu. Playing in the Premier League is a lot more high profile than playing in Greece but the key word is if Adu would even play for Hull.
Stoke City boss Tony Pullis wants to beat Liverpool in the race to sign Real Madrid and Holland striker Ruud van Nistelrooy by using a regular starting spot as bait in the build-up to the World Cup. The Sun
No offense to Stoke and Tony Pullis who runs a great team over there but I’d find it sad to see van Nistelrooy in a Stoke jersey.
Limp Los Blancos Held By Camacho’s Charges
Not the start to 2010 that Pellegrini’s men needed as they fail to capitalise on Barcelona’s slip up with a poor display in Pamplona…
So much for Real Madrid taking advantage of Barcelona slip up yesterday against Villarreal. Full credit to José Antonio Camacho and his Osasuna who have split the points with both Barcelona and Real Madrid this year. Real Madrid can have no complaints about dropping points as this was a very even game. This wasn’t a case of Osasuna pulling a Bolton and playing 10 men behind the ball at all times. They gave Real Madrid a match and walk away with a well earned point.
Hoops Can’t Make Pressure Count As Gers Manage Draw
Rangers held onto their seven point lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League after a scintillating Old Firm derby ended 1-1.
Celtic thought they had won it when substitute Scott McDonald came off the bench to head home with just over ten minutes left, but their lead lasted barely two minutes before Lee McCulloch levelled the scores and earned Rangers what could prove to be a priceless point.
If you are Celtic right now you are kicking yourself for leaving two points on the table. Fans can talk about some questionable referring decisions but at the end of the day Celtic up 1-0 with ten minutes left should still close the game out. This is what quality teams do at home but soon after Scott McDonald gave Celtic a 1-0 lead Rangers tied it up via Lee McCulloch. Rangers will gladly take the point in a game their were second best for most of the match.

Barcelona 1-1 Villarreal: Yellow Submarines And Cules Share Points
The Blaugrana could not get 2010 off to a winning start…
Villarreal must of loved facing Barcelona after the Christmas break. Take nothing away from Villarreal however who kept playing after Pedro opening the scoring for Barcelona. Not only they did equalize thanks to a David Fuster goal in the 51st minute but held Barcelona at bay in the Camp Nou for the next 40 minutes to earn a well deserved point. After a horrid start to the season things have been clicking for Villarreal who now see themselves 9th in La Liga.
Will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can take advantage of Barcelona slip up when they meet Osasuna.
