Milan 4-0 Siena: Ronaldinho Back To World Class Best To Crush Siena With Stunning Hat-trick

The Rossoneri cut the lead at the top of Serie A to six points…

Milan continued their fine recent form with a 4-0 win over ten-man Siena at San Siro in Serie A, thanks to a Ronaldinho hat-trick and Marco Borriello.

Article

I wonder what Brazil coach Dunga is thinking right now. On one hand you have Kaka who hasn’t settled in at Real Madrid yet then you have Ronaldinho who already has more goals this year than all of last season. Only one of them will play in South Africa as Dunga won’t repeat playing both of them like the last World Cup. Would be quite an upset if Ronaldinho went from outcast to a starter for Brazil.

Pele Just Mushed Spain

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

One of the best under rated movies of all time was A Bronx Tale. In the move was a character called Eddie Mush who was a degenerate gambler and everything he bet on would lose. With this in mind we bring in Pele.

Report: Manchester United Line Up Barcelona Boss Pep Guardiola To Succeed Sir Alex Ferguson

News of the World claims that Pep Guardiola, the Barcelona coach, could take over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United within the next two years.

Article

Pep Guardiola has proven to be a smart guy, plus he doesn’t hurt that Pep seems to have the Midas touch since taking over Barcelona. Now I can understand if Pep does decide to leave Barcelona (I don’t think he will mind you.) but Guardiola isn’t going to be the one to push Sir Alex Ferguson into retirement. You don’t want to be the coach who replaces S.A.F. It’s a no win situation and quite frankly a shadow no one will be able to fill. Now being the guy to replace the guy who replaced S.A.F has some appeal, a situation like year isn’t going to occur for many years. Plus it’s insulting to Sir Alex Ferguson too even read this reports, most of them just conjuncture.

Barcelona 4-0 Sevilla: Messi Makes His Century As Barca Breeze To Victory

Despite more heroics from los Rojiblancos’ keeper, the Blaugrana came out on top at the Camp Nou with a fine performance…

Barcelona eased to a 4-0 victory at the Camp Nou against Sevilla in a dominant performance. A Julien Escude own goal opened the scoring before Pedro doubled the lead, but some excellent goalkeeping from Andres Palop prevented the score from becoming embarrassing. Lionel Messi completed the scoring with two goals in the final 10 minutes.

Article

After a scoreless first half Barcelona got the breakthrough they needed thanks to a Julien Escude own goal and from there it was off to the races for Barcelona who simply outclassed a good Sevilla team 4-0. Good teams have long memories but with Sevilla knocking out Barcelona in the Copa del Rey only a couple of nights ago they didn’t have to wait long to get their revenge.

What makes this win even sweeter is after a period of time where they were neck and neck with Real Madrid, Barcelona has now opened up a five point lead thanks to this win and Real Madrid’s defeat.

Bari 2–2 Inter: Galletti Undone By Another Inter Comeback

Despite taking a double second half lead, the Galletti were forced to settle for a point following another great escape by the Nerazzurri…

Article

It will be interesting to see how Jose Mourinho will look back on this game. On one hand Mourinho can’t be happy with conceding two soft penalties to go along with the three goals given up last week. On the other hand Inter against shown great fight in playing for the full 90 minutes striking back and matching Bari’s two quick goals with two of their own.

Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Real Madrid

Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Real Madrid: Llorente And Iraizoz Frustrate Merengues

An early goal from Fernando Llorente proved too much for the visitors…

Athletic Bilbao took an early lead against Real Madrid and held on, to earn their first win against Los Merengues at the San Mames in five years.

Article

Job well done by Athletic Bilbao. They came out quick out of the gate against a Real Madrid side who didn’t know what hit them. Fernando Llorente didn’t do his Spain chances any harm but scoring the early and what ended up being the winning goal.

You are shaking your head right now if you are Real Madrid over this game. With all that firepower out there and with all their possession nothing seemed to work and they couldn’t break down a very solid Athletic Bilbao backline.

It only took one game for Real Madrid to end up feeling the loss of Gonzalo Higuain out there. Despite Karim Benzema best efforts, when he did beat the Bilbao defense, he couldn’t beat the wood work.

Portsmouth Money Woes

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Read yesterday how the the Premier League had to take 7 million in TV revenue that was suppose to go to Portsmouth and instead use it to help pay off some 10 million in transfer payments Portsmouth still has outstanding.

One of those creditors owned money was Chelsea over the Glen Johnson transfer back in 2007. This got me thinking, here you have Chelsea who basically got rid of Johnson only for the player to come good at Portsmouth then sell him to Liverpool for 17 million. You see this if your Chelsea and then Portsmouth have the nerve to cry poor when it’s time to finish off the transfer payments.

What balls is the first thing which come to mind. Let’s pretend you are selling a laptop and you get rid of it to someone you work it for $500. Now this co-worker pays you $300 upfront and tells you he is good for the last $200. As you work with the guy you think it’s ok. Then you find out a couple of weeks later your co-worker friend turns around and sells the same laptop for $1000. It’s good for him that he found someone to cough up a grand for the thing but then he has the nerve to cry poor on the remaining $200 owned to you. People catch beatings for less then this. I don’t condone violence but if Roman Abramovich wishes to get one of his goons to slap around whichever Arab businessman owns Portsmouth this week can you really blame him?

EPL Gossip Friday January 15th

Inter Milan are poised to exploit Liverpool’s current upheaval by making a move for captain Steven Gerrard. Full story: Daily Mail

Inter Milan failed in trying to sign Frank Lampard back in 2008 but if there is ever a year Gerrard would consider Liverpool it must be this one.

Stoke City have confirmed that they are interested in signing Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.
Full story: The Chronicle

Jones is one of those players you never know what you’re going to get game in and game one. Some games he is World Class, others he is invisible.

Greek side Larissa are trying to sign Hull City striker Daniel Cousin. (SkySports.com)

I’m sure Cousin goal in the African Cup of Nations didn’t hurt.

West Ham midfielder Luis Jimenez is being tracked by Italian sides Catania, Chievo and Parma. “There is a possibility that Jimenez could leave our club,” said West Ham’s sporting director Gianluca Nani. (Italian newspaper Itasportpress.it)

Considering Jimenez isn’t playing a lot of West Ham I’m sure he’d love to jump ship and join Parma.

The Gunners are also considering a move for Lazio striker Mauro Zarate – but he will cost £17m. (The Independent)

We all know how this rumour will end up at that price tag.

Everton are thought to be lining up a bid for out-of-favour Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Don’t think Arsene Wenger even looks at Senderos anyone after he cracked under pressure during the 2007-2008 season.

Manchester United are considering an £18m bid for Porto defender Rolando, who has been outstanding in this season’s Champions League. Daily Mail

First I’ve heard of this but it is interesting. If Carvalho and Porto defensive partner Bruno Alves didn’t man the backline Ronaldo would have a lot more Portuguese caps to his name.

West Ham midfielder Kieron Dyer is on the verge of retiring after failing to return from a series of injuries. Full story: Daily Mirror

Considering he is making 70k a week I’m shocked someone at West Ham hasn’t taken a tire iron to Dyer’s knee.

Good Job Simao

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

After losing 3-0 to Recreativo De Huelva in the first leg of the Copa del Rey Atletico Madrid came back to win 5-1 in the second leg, advancing 5-4 on aggregate thanks to a late goal a personal favorite Simao. Hopefully he saves some for this summer (if Ronaldo even let’s him take a free kick.)

With Barcelona and Real Madrid now out of the Copa del Rey Atletico Madrid must now think they have a great chance of winning.

Fernando Torres Out For Six Weeks

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Liverpool’s hopes of salvaging a fourth-place finish from what has become a truly dismal season have been undermined by the news that striker Fernando Torres will be sidelined for six weeks, while captain Steven Gerrard is out for a fortnight and midfielder Yossi Benayoun misses up to four weeks.

Article

Truthfully I’d be surprised if Fernando Torres comes back in six weeks. Who knows where Liverpool will be by then but if this forgettable season continues for Liverpool does Torres write off this season and instead focuses on getting fit for the World Cup? If this indeed happens can you really blame Torres if he decides not to play until he is 100% fit?
