Bayern Munich have confirmed on their official club website that they have loaned out striker Luca Toni to Roma until the end of the season.
This news shouldn’t come as a shock since it’s been in the pipeline for weeks. Rarely do you see a story that makes perfect sense for all parties involved but Toni going to Roma was the exception. Bayern Munich gets to cut loose a player they didn’t have in their plans. Toni gets a return to Italy with an improving Roma team under Claudio Ranieri in a bid to boost his World Cup hopes. Roma get a goal scorer with very little cost involved. If Toni plays well then Roma can decide to make the move permanent, if not they can ship him back to Germany at seasons end. I do think Toni should link up well with Totti in Roma’s front line however.
