Lionel Messi Wins the 2009 Ballon d’Or

In what should come as surprise to no one Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is a deserving winner of the Ballon d’Or given to the European Footballer of the Year. Out of a possible 480 points given during voting, Messi earned 473 points. Pretty much summed up the type of dream season Messi had. Cristiano Ronaldo came in second and team mate Xavi finished third.
