Jonny Evans: Sometimes Manchester United Have To Beat The Referee Too

Manchester United defender says reds get raw deal from officials…

Article

The day after his boss was handed a touchline ban for blasting Alan Wiley and Wayne Rooney apologized for claiming last weekend’s referee acted like the 12th man, Jonny Evans comes out and has some interesting comments of his own. Speaking to Sky Sports News Evans had these things to say.

“I think there are a lot of teams that do a lot of play-acting, but I don’t think that’s the case with Manchester United.

“I think we do try and play fair and not many of us would roll around and try and cheat.

“Sometimes the 50-50 decisions, that you would hope because of that would go in your way, have not been really going our way lately and I think that’s what has maybe been disheartening a few of the lads, but that’s football.

“Sometimes you have got to beat the referee as well and that is what we are going to try and do.”

Oh cry me a river, looking back over the last couple of years few teams have benefited from refereeing decisions like Manchester United. This blaming the referee for ever little thing mentality is really masking the real issue Manchester United should be addressing. Instead of questioning such things as Alan Wiley’s weight, Manchester United should find the answer as to who will spark their offensive attack against the top teams of Europe.

Yeah united should stop moaning about the ref and while i support them i couldn’t say they’re a “fairer” team than most. Like some players wouldn’t try cheat but plenty e.g. nani would be more than happy to take a dive. Something i really, really hate is players rolling around, getting the physio to come on, limping off then coming BACK ON!! your either injured or your not. Drogba spent a solid five minutes wasting literally 100 of millions of peoples time rolling around after evans challenge. Yeah i know he got a kick but whatever, hes a big guy. In my opinion there should be none of this coming off then coming back on. I think if the player comes of the pitch cause he got hurt then he shouldn’t be let back on. The only exception might be for times when a player need to get a cut sown.
