Milan Chief Silvio Berlusconi: It Will Be Kaka’s Decision To Join Real Madrid

The president admits the money will be hard to resist, but the final decision lies with Kaka…

Article

As touched upon yesterday, just don’t think it’s the end of the world if A.C Milan sell Kaka. Unless you are a Ryan Giggs or Raul, sports are a cycle and while Kaka had a great run at A.C Milan it wouldn’t be so bad for club and player to go off in another direction. Besides how many times can Kaka have A.C Milan agree to a deal for his services before he gets the hint.

Manchester City believe they are close to the £20m signing of Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o. (Daily Mail)

Nemanja Vidić can’t be too pleased hearing this news. Mind you Manchester City once believed they were close to signing Kaka at one point.

Tevez will decide in the next seven days where his future lies, after United made a final take-it-or-leave-it offer to the 25-year-old.
(Daily Star)

Despite all well the United fans have treated Tevez just don’t see him signing on against with Manchester United.

Chelsea have made a last-ditch £70m offer for AC Milan forward Kaka. (Daily Star)

The Blues are hopeful that Kaka’s personal demands may also price Real Madrid out of the market. (Daily Mirror)

However, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has admitted that Madrid are favourites to land the Brazil star. (The Independent)

But new Chelsea manager and former AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has not given up on signing Kaka and even phoned the Brazilian and begged him not to join Real. (The Sun)

However, Chelsea have denied making a world record £73.5m bid for the Brazilian but say they still expect make a major signing this summer. (Daily Telegraph)

Still feel it’s a case of too little too late regarding any interest from Chelsea with regards to Kaka. It appears Chelsea do have the weekend to try and convince Kaka to join Chelsea since the A.C Milan owner who also holds the day job of Italian P.M Silvo Berlusconi doesn’t wish to sell Kaka before the upcoming European elections on Friday.

If Chelsea miss out on Kaka then then that acquisition could be his AC team-mate Alexandre Pato and will offer £38m for the 19-year-old. (Daily Express)

Hated this rumour yesterday and still hate it today. A.C Milan are not a feeder club. They seem to be willing to sell Kaka since at 27 the window for a mega fee transfer for Kaka is closing. A player with the potential of Pato is a different story.

Chelsea have opened talks with Portsmouth to sign right-back Glen Johnson in a deal that could be worth £17m. (Daily Mail)

The problem with Chelsea’s transfer problems with there. If Chelsea were smart and felt Johnson had world class potential back in 2007 when they originally sold Johnson, they should of included a buy back clause like Manchester United has on Giuseppe Rossi or what Real Madird does with any young player they sell.

The Gunners are keen on Juventus and Italy central defender Giorgio Chiellini. (The Times)

But Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor could be on his way to AC Milan with the Italian side set to bid £15m for the Togo international. (The Sun)

AC Milan and Barcelona are lining up Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic in a £25m deal. (Daily Mail)

Just listing three more transfers which aren’t going to happen anytime soon.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are interested in Middlesbrough forward Tuncay. (The Mirror)

Always liked Tuncay who fits in that Dirk Kuyt mold of out and out hustle with enough skill to score a few goals. Then again Liverpool already has Dirk Kuyt so not exactly sure how Tuncay would fit.

Manchester United trio Fraizer Campbell, Danny Simpson and Darron Gibson have been placed on the transfer list at Old Trafford. (Daily Mirror)

For the best as Campbell and Simpson are way back in the depth chart. In the right team United might end up regretting selling Gibson in a couple of years.

Former Manchester United striker Alan Smith is set to sign for Blackburn in a £2.5m deal. (Daily Star)

The fact something wants Alan Smith should be a headline in itself. The least Sam Allardyce could do for Newcastle is to take Smith off their hands since he originally signed Alan Smith during his brief time at St James Park.

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan says Swansea boss Roberto Martinez is his first choice to replace former manager Steve Bruce. (The Sun)

Martinez should be ready for the step up. Not all that often EPL jobs come calling, just can’t see Martinez turning it down.

Meanwhile United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has vowed that he will play again, despite rumours that he will be forced to retire following a succession of knee injuries. (Daily Mirror)

The modern day sick note Owen Hargreaves. For his sake hope he gets to resume his playing career. Played a key role and even filled in a right back when needed during Manchester United Champions League winning season.

Costa Rica 3-1 U.S.: Ticos rampant at home

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — Alvaro Saborio scored 79 seconds in, the second-fastest goal against the United States in a World Cup qualifier, and Costa Rica coasted to a 3-1 victory Wednesday night.

Article

Must admit I wasn’t able to catch this game so wondering what went wrong? I know Costa Rica is a tough place to play in but it seemed like they were able to sucker punch the U.S with the early goal and from there never able to recover. Always love seeing the pity goal in the 90th minute by the way. Who knows maybe goal differential will play a part down the road but despite this loss the U.S will be in good shape to qualify from Concacaf.

Aon To Take AIG’s Place On Manchester United Jersey

Out with one insurance company in with another.

Article

Recession or not placing a global brand on the front of either Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal makes all the sense in the world. You couldn’t buy the advertising with United games being shown in highlights week after week and considering six million United jerseys were sold last year alone that is like six million walking billboards for your product.

Milan: Kaka’s Real deal is not being discussed

AC Milan have denied that general manager Adriano Galliani is negotiating the sale of Kaka to Real Madrid during a visit to Spain.

Speculation has been mounting that the Brazilian playmaker will swap the San Siro for the Bernabeu following Florentino Perez’s return as Real Madrid president.

Article

Selling Kaka wouldn’t be the end of the world for A.C Milan. For example life went on just fine for Barcelona once they sold Ronladinho. With a new coach at A.C Milan a new direction is needed. While no one can deny Kaka has been a wonderful player for A.C Milan, moving him may send an signal to the rest of these A.C Milan players that a new era is upon them. It just seemed that a lot of these A.C Milan got way too comfortable with Carlo Ancelotti in charge.

Bafflement from both sides over Adams’ Hoops claim

A Celtic source has dismissed claims that Tony Adams is in the frame for the vacant manager’s job as ”complete garbage”; while former Hoops boss Wim Jansen has also rejected Adams’ claim that they would join the club as a partnership.

Article

Here is a new rule of thumb. When a coach out of the spotlight goes on the radio to announce he is just about to be hired you can be assured it’s pretty far from the truth. Great player with Arsenal but Adams has done nothing on the coaching level to indicted he would be able to take on the Celtic challenge nor could I see much interest from Celtic’s perspective.

Nani keen to see out contract with Manchester Utd

Manchester United winger Nani has rejected suggestions that he will leave Old Trafford in the summer, claiming he will see out his contract at the club.

Article

Disappointing season aside I’ll say one thing for Nani. He hasn’t complained about playing time and acted like a model professional during the entire season. Hopefully this would bode well for his future.

Barcelona are preparing a £50m bid for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas but could face competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid. (Daily Star)

Barcelona will always be linked with Fabregas and the price should Barcelona chose to pay it, would be something Arsenal would listen to. The problem for Arsenal lies in the fact that it was Fabregas who Wenger chose to remake those great Arsenal teams for. Selling Emmanuel Adebayor is one thing. Arsenal fans have been there and done that but selling the cornerstone of your franchise is something Arsenal simple can’t justify to a fan base who have already gone four years without a trophy.

If Chelsea do miss out on Kaka then they will prepare a £45m deal for AC Milan forward Alexandre Pato. (The Times)

If A.C Milan sell Kaka what would be their reason to sell Pato? At that point A.C Milan will have the Kaka cash to see them through the summer.

Chelsea will also look to sign Manchester City’s highly rated 19-year-old striker Daniel Sturridge who is out of contract at Eastlands. (The Times)

Case of a player choosing money over playing time. Sturridge has top four talent, just not at the moment. Would be best if Chelsea did sign Sturridge to loan him out for the year so he gets some playing time.

The Blues have also told striker Andriy Shevchenko, who is on loan at AC Milan, that he is needed back at Stamford Bridge next season. (Daily Star)

Guess Chelsea has an extra seat on the bench next to Franco Di Santo.

City will target Barcelona forward Samuel Eto’o, Everton defender Joleon Lescott and Arsenal centre-back Kolo Toure. (Daily Mirror)

Kolo Toure would be the only one City has a chance for. Despite his mood swings Eto’o is smart enough to stay in Barcelona and Lescott by all accounts seems quite happy with Everton.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has pleaded with the club to bring Newcastle striker Michael Owen back to Anfield. (Daily Express)

I’d be shocked if Rafa turned back to clock and signed Michael Owen.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has launched a £15m bid to sign Valencia forward David Silva. (Daily Mirror)

Hate it when the press insults me. How can Liverpool present a bid for David Silva which is 2 million lower than what Tottenham paid for David Bentley? Regarding all these David Villa and David Silva rumours. If both players wanted to leave Valencia they could of along time ago. Even after their impressive performances at Euro 2008 both decided to stay on at Valencia. Both seem quite happy to continue on with Valencia.

Steve Bruce will sign Tottenham striker Darren Bent for £10m once he is confirmed as Sunderland manager. (Daily Mirror)

The only issue with Darren Bent was the fact Tottenham over paid to sign him from Charlton. At a club where his transfer fee won’t be so much of an issue he’ll be a solid 15 goal scorer year after year.

Former Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry has written an open letter to the club’s supporters apologising for his departure to Manchester City. (Daily Mirror)

Well intentioned but don’t think it will do much to change Villa fans perception of Gareth Barry at the moment.

Kaka Or Ronaldo To Play In Toronto This Summer?

Real Madrid Confirm Friendlies With Toronto FC & DC United

With a new administration in place, Los Blancos have begun their mission to conquer North America.

Real Madrid’s ferocious rivalry with Barcelona looks set to spill beyond Spanish shores after the capital giants confirmed that they will organise part of their pre-season tour for the upcoming campaign in North America.

Article

All I can say if Ronaldo ever did link up with Real Madrid and in turn touched down in Toronto to play in this friendly it would create a near hysteria of people looking to catch a glimpse of him. While friendlies are generally uneventful it’s not often a team such as Real Madrid plays 20 minutes away from me. No doubt the Toronto FC-Real Madrid match will sell out in seconds and with the D.C area having some great fans I’m sure a large turn out will be in store at RFK stadium.

A plus to this event is that real grass will be installed at BMO field for this game. While temporary it’s only a matter of time before BMO converts from the fake stuff to real grass.

Gareth Barry Signs For Manchester City

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

manchestercity

Gareth Barry has complered his surprise move from Aston Villa to Manchester City for a fee of £12m.

The 28-year-old England international was heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool last summer but the Reds were unwilling to meet Villa’s asking price of £18m.

Article

Aston Villa fans are going to be upset over the fact Barry in their eyes left for money since Manchester City are not a Champions League team which was a huge factor when Barry wanted to jump ship to Liverpool last year. Does money play a part here? I’m sure it does but in the end a player who has spent ten years at a club leaves for two reasons. 1) A new challenge and most importantly 2) Barry along the way must of disliked his boss and current coach Martin O’Neill. While it would never be said publicly why else would a player like Barry leave behind ten years and the respect of the Villa fans if he got along with everyone in an organization which by all accounts is going in the right direction?
