MONTREAL – Eduardo Sebrango scored two goals as the Montreal Impact rode the energy of 55,571 fans at Olympic Stadium to defeat Santos Laguna of Mexico 2-0 in the opening leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night.

This is a great story that flew slightly under the radar. On Tuesday the Houston Dynamo played in front of just 10000 fans in their CONCACAF Champions League semi match against Atlante. Considering Santos has a long history in Mexican football culture and this was Montreal’s first game of the season makes last night’s result all the more impressive.
