Random Thought Of The Week
My Roma post in Euro Watch yesterday got me thinking how lucky and rare it is to develop players then see them spend their best years playing for the club. Which ties me into West Ham. A couple of days ago I was flipping through the channels and I saw an old West Ham-Sheffield Wednesday game being played on TV. My first reaction is that I forgot Paulo Wanchope played for the club. Then I noticed the other players on the pitch, you had Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard before he became Fat Frank to Hammers fans, Joe Cole and even a young Michael Carrick warming up the bench. West ham youth academy has always been known to provide young talent even right up until this day but it makes you wonder sometimes what if West Ham could of been able to build around those players now starring for Manchester United and Chelsea?
