Sigi Schmid Steps Down As Columbus Head Coach
Schmid decides to part ways with the Crew
ESPNsoccernet has learned that the 2008 MLS Coach of the Year Sigi Schmid, who led the Columbus Crew to the 2008 MLS Cup, will not return next season as head coach. Sources close to Schmid confirmed his decision Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Galaxy were never the same once Schmid left. Hopefully the same faith doesn’t await the Columbus Crew who couldn’t come to a contact extension with Sigi Schmid. All signs now point to Schmid taking over in Seattle. Will be interesting to see what he can do with an expansion franchise next season.
