Can Tottenham Do It Again?
Bent goals sends Spurs into semis
Harry Redknapp has been Tottenham boss for less than six weeks and is already one tie from Wembley following a 2-1 Carling Cup quarter-final victory over Watford courtesy of Darren Bent’s winner.
Could it be deja vu again for Tottenham? Last year they were in the bottom half of the league and punched their ticket into Europe by winning the Carling Cup. Unlike last year Tottenham won’t have to go through Arsenal in the Semi Finals and Chelsea in the Finals in order to lift the trophy. Anything can happen in cup competitions as Burnley’s run has proven but with Manchester United being the only team in the top division left Tottenham must like their chances to backdoor themselves into Europe again next season by winning the Carling Cup. It would also be interesting as a Tottenham victory would mean Harry Redknapp has won the last two cup competitions in England. The other of course being Portsmouth FA Cup win earlier this season.
