EPL Week In Review December 1st

- I’d be very nervous if I was a Sunderland fan right about now. It’s clear all the money Sunderland spent in the off season hasn’t improved the team. What is even worst is the silly mistakes Sunderland were making on defence. Pascal Chimbonda couldn’t lift himself more than two feet off the ground for Matthew Taylor first goal. Kieran Richardson committed a silly foul which lead to the second goal. Danny Collins and Dean Whitehead continued with the school boy defending which lead to Bolton’s 3rd and 4th goals.
- This will be a true test of Roy Keane’s coaching makeup. It’s easy when things go your way and everyone loves you but the worst thing he can do is quit at this point. Keane helped create this mess, it should been on his shoulders to clean it up.
- A Villa fan can live with a 0-0 draw against United but for Aston Villa to crack the top four they need to pick up points against the likes of Fulham.
- Speaking of Fulham, 0-0 draws against Liverpool and now Aston Villa. Not exactly crowd pleasing but points are points.
- The biggest difference between Manchester United and Manchester City was that United featured Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov up front and City featured Benjani and Darius Vassell. The teacher gave another master class against the student as Mark Hughes couldn’t out smart Sir Alex Ferguson.
- Cristiano Ronaldo needs to grow up and stop acting out cause not every call will go his way. It was a deserved yellow card on his tackle from behind against Shaun Wright-Phillips. Acting out and mock clapping towards Howard Webb was going to place a bull eyes on Ronaldo’s jersey. Sure the second yellow card was soft but misunderstanding or not he should of kept his hands down.
- Nice to see Tony Adams having some success with Portsmouth who really got the shaft when Harry Redknapp left. Saw a 0-0 score at half and 45 minutes later 3-2 later against Blackburn. That must of been some second half.
- The true test for Adams however is if he can keep the core of his squad together come the Janaury transfer window.
- Everton losing Yakubu is another blow is what has been a struggle for Everton. I’m sure Everton had hopes on cracking the top four this year but with top goal scorer Yakubu gone for the season just making it to Europe next season would be acceptable.
- I wonder if Chelsea fans are secretly thinking that the Mourinho era will go down as the glory days for Chelsea football club. Mourinho use to live for these games and gave his team a swagger that hasn’t been there since Mourinho got the pink slip. It hasn’t been a good month for Scolari. Getting knocked out of the Carling Cup, haven’t processed to the knockout stages of the Champions League yet and now another home loss to Arsenal. One point out of three home games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal is not going to get it done.
- Full credit for Arsenal on that win. Quick frankly didn’t think they had it in them but that was some come back in the second half. Now if Arsenal only played against the other top four they would be top of the league.

Yup – Ronaldo has got to stop the playacting. That big bullseye can be seen by the refs, opposing team members, and spectators. He was absolutely amazing last season, but has still to hit his stride this season. His ‘not last season peak form’ can be expected, but the antics are really ticking this spectator off… Not to wish misfortune on anyone, but I’m shedding no tears when calls go against him.
I still maintain he gets a lot of stick on the field due to his talent alone from opposing players & opposing team fans, but sheesh! try to keep a lid on that and keep the neutrals (and your/teams fans) on your side.
