EPL Gossip Wednesday November 19th

Arsenal star Theo Walcott could be out for 12 weeks with the dislocated shoulder he sustained in training for England. (Various)

Part of me wishes to make a joke about how Arsenal will replace Walcott with a 15 year Finnish player playing in the second division but that would be wrong.

Spanish left-back Jose Enrique could leave Newcastle in January despite the Magpies’ shortage of players. (Daily Star)

Highly unlikely that many Newcastle fans will miss Jose Enrique who never took to life playing in England.

Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has told Israeli TV that he will consider leaving Anfield in January if his first team prospects do not improve under Rafa Benitez. (The Guardian)

Benayoun should of stayed at West Ham is he wanted to play every week. What did he except would happen when deciding to join Liverpool? He was always going to be a player to provide depth and nothing more.

Tottenham have sacked their goalkeeping coach Hans Leitert and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is likely to recommend David Coles from his former club Portsmouth for the role. (The Guardian)

Doubtful that Hans Leitert will be sending any Christmas cards to Heurelho Gomes after his performance costs Leitert his job.

West Ham’s future was plunged into fresh uncertainty on Tuesday after it emerged that Hansa, the club’s holding company, had begun the process of administration. (Daily Telegraph)

Some would say this is karma over the Carlos Tevez/Javier Mascherano saga. Interesting to see when Media Sports Investment’s decided to bring Tevez and Mascherano to Corinthians in Brazil they ended up playing in the Brazilian second division soon after. West Ham could easily follow that trend.

Gerard Pique admits he used to get lost during team-talks by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, saying: “The gaffer used a very Scottish kind of English that might as well have been Chinese as far as I was concerned.” (Various)

Pique didn’t have to listen much anyway since he rarely got a chance to feature for Manchester United. No knock on the player who has made a fine transition playing for Barcelona.

  1. OldRightBack Says:

Gomes… His record looks good and he was sure a rock against Spurs vs. PSV last campaign. Is he having trouble adjusting to the English game, is the coaching poor, is his confidence short due to a porous back line, or something else? It’s sad to see a seemingly decent goalie (thinking of Robbo too) having such a bad go of it. Maybe something in the training ground water – that’s 2 goalies in 2 seasons.
