EPL Gossip Wednesday October 22nd

Brazil striker Ronaldo, nearing full fitness after a serious knee injury, has pleaded with Manchester City to make another move for him, saying: “If City make their offer again, I’ll consider it.” (The Sun)

City should then say in return what would it take for you to actually sign a contract instead of considering it in order to avoid these silly back and forth games.

England striker Emile Heskey is looking for an £80,000-a-week deal elsewhere as he plays out his current Wigan contract, which may mean he could prove too expensive in the January window. (Daily Mirror)

That is a lot of money to pay for a player who gives it his all but doesn’t produce a high goal total.

Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill plans to use Marlon Harewood as bait to sign Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz in an £18m deal. (Daily Mirror)

Have always liked Harewood as a player but with Blackburn has a similar type player already in Jason Roberts. Blackburn will want money and lots of it for Roque Santa Cruz.

Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr have signalled that they are ready to sell their stake at Anfield after engaging investment bank Merrill Lynch to find a buyer for the club. (The Times)

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s owners reportedly intend to use the club’s profits to service interest on the loans they have incurred to buy the club. (Daily Telegraph)

Not exactly the type of news Liverpool fans want to see in the paper before facing Chelsea on Saturday. That will be a great game to kick off the upcoming soccer weekend.

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan has promised to score against Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday – and dedicate the goal to his former club Manchester United. (Daily Mirror)

Liverpool fans would counter that if Forlan scored goals for United he’d still be wearing an United shirt. If memory does serve me correctly to be fair I believe Forlan had his best game for Manchester United against Liverpool many moons ago.
