Matchday Three (Tuesday) Review
- Weird soccer day with 9 goals in the Villarreal-Aalborg game, 8 goals in the Steaua Bucurest – Lyon game and 7 goals in the Arsenal – Fenerbahçe. Don’t see that everyday.
- Just read the ESPN Football page which had the headline FC Porto 0-1 Dynamo Kiev: Shock in Portugal. Sadly it’s no real shock. This is a transition year for Porto after selling off Jose Bosingwa and Richard Quaresma during the last transfer season.
- Arsenal had little trouble with Fenerbahçe who seem to be doing everything they can do get new head coach Luis Aragonés fired.
- Claudio Ranieri can breathe easier tonight for a short time anyway after Alessandro Del Piero stunning free kick got Juventus off to a dream start against Real Madrid.
- Both of Dimitar Berbatov goals were offside but despite how hard Celtic played they didn’t deserve a result against Manchester United even with the two bad calls going United’s way.
