Barcelona to bid for Miami MLS franchise

MIAMI, Oct 14 (Reuters) – Spanish giants Barcelona are to launch a bid to become co-owners of a Major League Soccer franchise in Miami, the Catalan club said on Tuesday.

Barca will announce details of their aim to bring the MLS back to South Florida in Miami on Wednesday, they said on their website.

Nice to see that this rumor which was posted here a few months back coming to life. While I am excited thinking about a Barcelona connection in the MLS, I’m not big on Miami as a location as that city is a fairweather sports town. They will hop on the bandwagon with a good team but stay away in droves when things aren’t so good. Good luck tapping into that Latino market.
