Benfica End Napoli’s UEFA Cup Dream
Two second half goals from Jose Antonio Reyes and Nuno Gomes were enough for Benfica to over turn the 3-2 first leg loss to go through to the group stage 4-3 on aggregate as they beat Napoli 2-0 on the night.
This was a great result for Benfica fans. Their team needed a win against a Napoli squad that is playing well in Serie A. Jose Antonio Reyes broke the game open with a well placed strike in the second half and withstood the pressure until Nuno Gomes put the game away. There are some talented pieces on this Benfica team that are starting to gel under new coach Quique Sanchez Flores. First beating Sporting on the weekend and with this result its been a good week for Benfica supporters.
