Bentley Joins Spurs : Official

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the capture of Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley. The 23-year-old is set to be officially unveiled at tomorrow’s press conference. The London side have yet to reveal a fee for the England international…
Another transfer that made sense for both teams. Blackburn is allowed to move on without dealing with the Bentley transfer rumors since it was clear he wanted out. Both club and player are now allowed to move forward. Tottenham makes a big name signing to ease the loss of Robbie Keane and hopefully to convince future transfer targets that White Hart Lane should be their prefer destination.

Time to reminisce: I ‘found’ football on TV in the States again back in 2006 (or was it 2007?) after being out-of-touch since college days. A Spurs game was one of the first I recall seeing, and Robbie Keane was sent off when a goal bound shot hit is upper arm. I remember him pleading with the ref to no avail. Spurs went on to win the game w/ 10 men. I was really impressed and have been a Spurs fan (along with others) since then, and had a blast at WHL this year when Spurs walloped Hammers 4-0. Seeing Robbie move to ‘Pool is a bummer as a Spurs fan, but gives me another reason to cheer ‘Pool on. Blackburn was another team of the non-top-4 which I enjoyed watching. Seeing David Bentley (and Brad Friedel) move from Blackburn is a bummer on the one hand, but to see DB come to Spurs is great on the other.
Can’t wait to see this season get started!

I remember that Tottenham-West Ham game. The Hammers ended up losing three games in a row by the score of 4-0 and people were calling for Alan Curbishley head. Good story b.t.w
