EPL Gossip Friday July 25th

Sunderland manager Roy Keane is to continue his ambitious summer recruitment plans by bidding up to £7m for Taye Ismaila Taiwo, the Marseille left-back who was named African young player of the year in 2006. (The Times)

Guess Keane can’t spend all his transfer budget on Tottenham players.

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has told one of his closest pals – Portugal and Real Madrid centre-half Pepe – that he wants to join him and move to the Bernabau. (The Sun)

You know Ronaldo and Pepe aren’t really that close. One was a rising star of the Sporting youth system and the other came up through the lower ranks of Portuguese football before making his way to Porto. Plus Pepe has only been with the national team since the fall of 2007. Friends? sure. The best man at each other’s wedding? Unlikely.

Russian ace Andrei Arshavin risks pricing himself out of a dream move to England with wage demands of £100,000 a week, along with club Zenit St Petersburg’s £16m price tag. (Daily Mirror)

Arshavin should really have a long look at his advisor’s. You have to strike when the iron is hot and his stock will never be hotter as it was last month.

If Redknapp sells Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari to Inter Milan for £12m, he intends to splash the cash on Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips. (Daily Star)

Sounds about right. Just like Redknapp sold Benjani to fund the purchase of Jermain Defoe it appears the same can be said about selling Muntari to make a move for Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Tottenham have accepted a bid of around £3m from Blackburn Rovers for their goalkeeper Paul Robinson. (The Independent)

Robinson stock sure has crashed from even a year ago.

Newcastle’s increasingly desperate hunt for a new central defender has caused them to look again at the Argentinian international Fabricio Coloccini, a mainstay of the Deportivo La Coruna team. (The Independent)

Good player and at only 26 he still has plenty of good years left. Coloccini has been rumored to leave Deportivo La Coruna almost every summer since joining from A.C Milan back in 2004.
