Tottenham Clinch Luis García Deal
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Luis García from Espanyol after lengthy talks in Barcelona and he will be presented at White Hart Lane next Wednesday.
Tottenham proved last year that having four strikers that can start doesn’t work. With the current lineup of Bent, Berbatov and Keane, one will have to go. Which one at this point is anyone’s guess with all three involved in transfer rumors.
Atletico Madrid offer £10M for Hamburg’s Van der Vaart
Atletico Madrid have made a bid for Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
That is way too low for a player of Van der Vaart quality. They paid double that last year to sign Simao. Yes, Van der Vaart contact is coming up but Hamburg is not going to accept such a low ball offer.
Italian Press: Casillas & Torres Favourites For Ballon D’Or
According to reports in the Italian press, Spain stars Iker Casillas and Fernando Torres are the two favourites for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The Italian press just refuse to admit that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world right now. The same Italian press claimed that Luca Toni should win the Ballon d-Or previously.
Torres great player, best striker going but it wasn’t like he lit up Euro 2008. A case can easily be made that David Villa was a better player. Casillas is world class but Ronaldo lead the EPL, Champions League and Europe in scoring. Helped his team do the EPL and Champions League double. Ronaldo didn’t exactly have a bad Euro 2008, they lost to Germany but there is no shame to that. He was also hurt during that time as well. When looking at Kaka 2007 season that won him the award Ronaldo has eclipsed that.
