Chelsea have offered Frank Lampard £140,000 a week to try to persuade the midfielder to reject Inter Milan’s advances and sign a new deal. (Daily Express)

It is not Wenger style to sign a player whose stock will never be higher after Arshavin Euro 2008 performance. Wenger is the type to buy low and sell high when it comes to his transfer targets.

But Arshavin is actually on his way to Chelsea, who have had a bid accepted by Zenit and the player is now London-bound to hold personal talks. (Daily Mirror)

This however is classic Chelsea at work.

It’s a typically busy summer at Stamford Bridge with the club’s board being told to sell striker Didier Drogba by new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. (The Sun)

Scolari also wants to offer Florent Malouda to Barcelona as part of a deal to sign striker Samuel Eto’o from the Nou Camp outfit. (The Sun)

Chelsea patience with Drogba’s antics have to be running out. Mourinho understood Drogba and treated him with kid gloves something that Scolari will not do. In the case of Malouda, he never quite found his form once Grant took over.

Portsmouth will make a final £10m bid for Liverpool striker Peter Crouch. (Daily Mirror)

The official transfer season opened up 3 days day. Nobody is making a real final offer at this point.

Blackburn midfielder David Bentley still wants to leave the club after new boss Paul Ince failed to convince him to stay. (Daily Mirror)

Blackburn will be this years Bolton in the EPL. Hopefully Paul Ince won’t suffer the same faith as the over matched Sammy Lee did.

Ronaldo’s possible switch to Real Madrid could be scuppered if he needs to undergo ankle surgery. (Various)

Yes I’m sure Ronaldo’s ankle is going to scare Madrid off. Nothing short of Ronaldo losing his foot will lead to Madrid backing off before the transfer deadline.
