EPL Gossip for Monday June 23rd

Barcelona midfielder Deco is set to become new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari’s first signing in a £12m deal. (The Sun)

But Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told Scolari to forget signing the Portugal midfielder as he is ready to sanction a £20m bid for Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin. (Daily Star)

I’ve been impressed with Arshavin since his Uefa Cup performances but playing double the transfer fee that Arshavin would of commanded based on two games isn’t smart business. I would also love to be a fly on the wall if Abramovich has told Scolari no to something not even a week into the job.

Everton boss David Moyes wants to sign Tottenham striker Darren Bent for around half of the £16m Spurs spent on the former Charlton player a year ago. (Daily Mirror)

Tottenham is not going to throw in the towel on Bent a year after spending so much to sign him. A team would have to cough up 10-12 million pounds in order for Tottenham to cut their losses.

Brazil playmaker Ronaldinho, who has been told by Barcelona that he is free to leave, has admitted he would love to play in the Premier League but refused to say whether he fancies Manchester City or Chelsea. (Various)

If he fancied Manchester City he would of signed there by now. Ronaldinho would only go to City if its the last option open to him.

The transfer of Brazilian striker Jo to Manchester City has hit a few contractual snags as the CSKA Moscow player is subject to the same ownership issues as Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez. (The Times)

When a transfer is this close to happening something will be worked out within the next couple of weeks.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is ready to pay £2m for Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul. (Daily Mirror)

Tottenham will not be ready to accept only two million for Kaboul. The Spurs will swallow a bit of a loss on Kaboul but not that much.
