There Is Only One Sinnacle

15 mins : Ludovic Magnin isn’t off to the best of starts at left back. He looks nervous to start this game.

17 mins : This Swiss crowd seems alittle too quiet. A sea of red but haven’t noticed a sea of noise yet.

21 mins : First key save goes to Cech. Alexander Frei looks lively out there. Striker partner Marco Streller not so much.

30 mins : Gelson Fernandes is throwing his weight around in the midfield. He is on the verge of getting a Yellow if he keeps these tackles up.

36 mins : Alexander Frei sure isn’t afraid to shoot the ball today. Frei unleashes a long range shot that gave Petr Cech some trouble.

43 mins : Speaking on Frei he limps off with an injury. Hopefully for the Swiss he has some Paul Pierce in him.

HALFTIME Switzerland vs Czech Republic 0-0 Battle of the midfield thus far. Neither team has made any critical mistakes thus resulting in the scoreline. Frei doesn’t seem to able to channel his inner Paul Pierce as he looks done for the game.

49 mins : Free kick in a dangerous spot for Switzerland. Second half sub Hakan Yakın kicks it wide however.

55 mins : Jan Kollar makes his way to the bench as Václav Svěrkoš takes his place up front. Both featured strikers are out of this game. Milan Baros must of loved that substitution.

61 mins : It’s now the Czechs turn with a dangerous free kick. Jankulovski also drills the ball high of the target.

63 mins : Hakan Yakın with agreat chance for the swiss but his header goes wide of the mark. From that range and that kind of space Yakin should of done better.

70 mins : Goal Czech Republic 1-0 Who needs Jan Koller has Václav Svěrkoš gets in behind the Swiss defender and slots it home.

79 mins : So close Switzerland as Johan Volanthen hits the under side of the cross bar on another chance that should of found the back of the net. It doesn’t appear to be the Swiss day despite having the bulk of possession.

FULL TIME Czech Republic 1 Switzerland 0 : The Swiss will feel hard done by with the loss but with the loss of Frei in the second half Switzerland didn’t have that game breaker. Czech Republic got the lucky break and took full advantage of it. Sometimes that is all it takes.
