Quick Champions League Final Thoughts

- That is the beauty and drama of football at display. I’m still left shaking from the ups and downs.
- I’m far from a Chelsea fan but my heart really just broke for John Terry. He’ll be left to replay that kick for the rest of his life.
- I’m also not the biggest fan of Avram Grant but I found it really classy to console Terry right after the game. Grant could may well lose his job over a matter of inches.
- I wonder if Michel Platini said to Nicholas Anelka hey don’t worry I’ve missed big penalty kicks too.
- Oh I was hoping this would quiet the Cristiano Ronaldo chokes theory. Sadly even with a goal and a Champions League title on his resume I feel that won’t be the case.
- What was Ronaldo doing kicking 3rd? Either first or last.
- Rio Ferdinand you were anything but world class today
- But few will remember that.
- Drogba’s red card was silly
- Sir Alex Ferguson said it best back in 1999. “Football…..Bloody Hell

Unbelievable game im so freaking happy united won it was a great night. I thought when giggs missed his chance that we were gonna regret it but it all worked out. I thought Rio and Vidic were class actually. The pitch was way to loose or something but it was great to see two teams actually really go for it i feared it might be another fa cup game from last year. Ronaldo really showed his class (anyone can miss a peno) and the fact that he was till running at chelsea with pace in the dying minutes after two hours of football is just a testament to his fitness levels. I feel sorry for Terry you couldn’t write that shit if there was one player on chelseas money grabbing team that should have scored its terry whose cup up through the ranks. If there was any justice it would have been cashley who missed

By all rights Manchester United should’ve been up 3-1 at half. Not a fan of either team and secretly hoping for them both to lose… but still, an enjoyable game. I only wished I called in sick today because I was up way too late watching it!

That was insane putting sod over astroturf! Don’t know if there are any FIFA rules concerning the playing surface, but it seems that if the teams or whomever wanted to play on sod, then host the final in another stadium.
Taking nothing away from Chelsea (man, if any team is tenacious and can grab a late winner, it’s the Blues), but it looked to me that VDS slipped or tripped just before Lamps ‘put it in the back of the old onion bag’. Seeing others like Tevez & Essien wiping out didn’t add to my opion of the pitch (yeah, yeah, it was pouring, but I’ve seen worse weather in England and the pitches were better.)
Comments on the refereeing? It’s a difficult job (especially w/o replay), but there were some rotten calls on both sides.
…And stupid actions by the players. Drogba’s red card, Tevez holding up the ball(?) I realize everybody’s heart is in the game, but you gotta push that passion into your playing and not confronting the officials or other players.
You gotta feel for JT – slipping and basically costing the game (damn pitch conditions!) Penalty kicks to determine the winner truely suck. He sure had a key header though w/ Giggs shot on goal. THAT was class.
Moments of brilliance – any time Ronaldo gets the ball up front, JT’s ‘save’, Cech’s 2 saves in 6 secs, VDS’s winning save….
Congratulations to ManUtd for the win, and Chelsea for the competition.
Heart in mouth all night. Glad I set the DVR to 1 hour more or I’d have missed half the match!
