Goal.com weekly MLS breakdown

Kyle McCarthy writes a good week in review for you guessed it goal.com. My comments will be added below.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Even expansion teams have expectations, and San Jose didn’t meet them on Saturday night.

“I think the first half is about as bad as we’re going to play this year,” said Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon said after his team fell to its fifth defeat in seven games at New England.

Article

San Jose is going to be awful, there an expansion team and expansion are treated as red haired step children in their first year. When your main attacking threat is Ronnie O’Brien for is a wide player and injury prone you are in trouble.

Some points on the observations made in the article.

- Both Laurent Robert and Amado Guevara have added some quality that Toronto FC desperately needed. Both are the wrong side of 30 however.

- Shalrie Joseph is a player that would have no trouble playing in Europe. Strong, quick and athletic. Celtic were interested in him last year. Somewhat surprising that more teams weren’t tracking him.

- Don Garber heart must of skipped a beat when he saw Adrian Serioux challenge on David Beckham.

- Only a matter of team before Robbie Rogers moves on to Europe. If he keeps up this pace within a year or two teams will notice him.
