Sinnacle Soccer Saturday

The day starts in Manchester as West Ham travel to face Manchester United. It’s return the favor time for West Ham. Last year thanks to a Carlos Tevez goal West Ham won on the final day of the season over United to stay in the EPL. With West Ham having nothing to play for this year and Manchester United needing a victory to maintain top spot, it wouldn’t shock me if West Ham rolled over here.

Changing gears from the top of the table to the bottom of the table Reading take on Tottenham. Steve Coppell is having to deal with too many outside distractions. The latest Emerse Fae calling the coach stupid. As is not well at Reading.

Other games

Aston Villa vs Wigan – Villa are trying to assure themselves of Europe next season while Wigan will present a tricky game for the home side since the visitors want to assure themselves that they wont have to deal with any final week of the season worries about going down.

Fulham vs Birmingham – That faint sound you hear is Fulham EPL chances next season. It was flat lined until 20 minutes left against Manchester City when Fulham scored three scores to take the points. The home side need a win to make it a very interesting final week of the season.

Middlesbrough vs Portsmouth – In what could of been the FA Cup final instead these two teams play for without a care in the world. While the math doesn’t see Middlesbrough safe yet both teams would be happy walking away with a draw.

Blackburn vs Derby County – Only interesting thing of note is Benni McCarthy ripping his former team mate Robbie Savage in the lead up to this game. To quote McCarthy “the worst player I have ever seen in my life, he has no skill at all,”

Bolton vs Sunderland – Both teams meet in the late game. Bolton hung on for a draw last week away to Tottenham and Sunderland nabbed a late winner against Middlesbrough. With Sunderland poor road form Bolton can’t be too confidence since the visitors have been better as of late on their travels.

The race is all but over in Germany. Schalke and Werder Bremen play at home against Hannover and Energie Cottbus respectablely. Both teams are down by 12 points with 4 games left despite their best efforts Bayern Munich should of the league wrapped up tomorrow when they play Wolfsburg.

Groundhogs day is close to returning in France Lyon about to win their record 7th title in a row if they beat Nice team and second place Bordeaux loses to third place side Marseille.

To end the day off in Spain Atletico Madrid looking to hold on to the 4th and Champions league spot against Recreativo who are just outside of the drop zone in 17th place.
