EPL Gossip for Friday May 2nd

Manchester United are weighing up a summer bid for West Ham striker Dean Ashton, with boss Sir Alex Ferguson keen to add a player with physical presence to his options at Old Trafford. (Daily Star)

With Saha always injured Manchester United will need another scoring option. Just not sold on Ashton as that option. He is not the type of player I would choose to spend 20 million dollars (U.S) for since I don’t see West Ham letting him go for less.

Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has told team-mates that he is joining AC Milan, with the Frenchman purportedly intent on heading to the San Siro despite a recent offer from Juventus. (Daily Mail)

And fellow Gunners midfielder Alexander Hleb has also told friends that he does not expect to be at Arsenal next season, with Inter Milan the likely destination. (Daily Star)

Somewhere Denílson and Theo Walcott are smiling if that was to be the case.

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Fulham goalkeeper Kasey Keller when the 38-year-old’s contract runs out in the summer. (The Times)

As a backup Keller would be a wise choice. Solid team player and can get the job done when called upon.

Manchester United have bid £15.8m for Porto’s marauding Portuguese right-back Jose Bosingwa, though his club want no less than £22m. (The Sun)

£22m is Dani Alves money and while Bosingwa is a great right back he isn’t Dani Alves. This is just the game within the game being played here. If Manchester United want to bring Bosingwa to Manchester both teams will end up meeting in the middle.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is planning a summer clearout with Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant, John Arne Riise and Xabi Alonso in line to leave to create funds for Gareth Barry, Borussia Dortmund full-back Philipp Degen and Wigan’s Antonio Valencia. (The Sun)

The four players leaving all make sense. Hopefully someone grabs Pennant such he is a useful player. Liverpool were down 2-0 to Birmingham on the weekend and had nothing to play for. Pennant was still trying to create plays which lead Liverpool to come back and tie that game.

Manchester City believe they could lose club captain Richard Dunne amid a mass revolt among players over Thaksin Shinawatra’s decision to sack manager Sven-Goran Eriksson. (The Independent)

Dunne had held off on a contact renewal even when Eriksson was in charge. While some of the upset players will still remain at City next year it looks likely that Dunne will not be one of them.
