EPL Gossip for April 30th

Tottenham want to offer Dimitar Berbatov to Barcelona in a sensational swap deal for Samuel Eto’o. (Daily Star, Daily Mirror)

Smart move by Tottenham, I’d make that switch. Eto’o is one of a number of Barcelona players who can use a fresh start and Berbatov whines way to much for my liking. Will Barcelona go for it? Unlikely but I’m sure they wouldn’t dismiss it right away.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been told to forget about trying to sign Portsmouth’s Niko Kranjcar. (Daily Star)

Teams like Arsenal end up buying players from teams like Portsmouth. Personally I believe they are better options on the market then Kranjcar but if Arsenal waive enough money Portsmouth will bite.

But Cesc Fabregas will resist the temptation to leave Arsenal for AC Milan, Real Madrid or Barcelona. (Daily Express)

It’s one thing to say this now. It’s another to say this at the end of the season when Fabregas goes back to Spain. I don’t envision Fabregas wanting to move. I do envision Fabregas having that temptation in the summer.

Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra wants ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as manager. (Daily Mirror)

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is also on the managerial short list. (Daily Mail, The Guardian)

I think Mourinho has had enough of over bearing owners for one life time. Scolari has already dismissed any connection to Manchester City post and most likely wouldn’t commit to anything until after Euro 2008.

Shinawatra already has Croatia boss Slaven Bilic lined up as a replacement. (Daily Express, The Independent)

Bilic I can see taking the post after Euro 2008 since he has played in the EPL before and has mentioned that he wants to coach in England some day.
