EPL Gossip for Sunday April 20th

Chelsea will make a third attempt to sign Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard if Frank Lampard, as expected, leaves at the end of the season. (Various)
Not likely to happen
Manchester City have had discussions with Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho about a move to Eastlands. (Independent on Sunday)
Discussions went along the lines below.
Manchester City : Ronaldinho would you like to play for Manchester City?
Ronaldinho : No
Discussion over.
Barcelona striker Thierry Henry is keen for a return to the Premier League. However, although the former Arsenal forward is thought to prefer a switch to a London club, it is unlikely he will move back to the Gunners. (Various)
Another silly rumor. Why taint his Arsenal career by playing in the EPL when he can easily move to Italy, another club in Spain, France or even MLS. He will never play for Tottenham, same with Chelsea, god knows why he’d play for West Ham. Well you get the idea.
Manchester United are to put a £100m buy-out clause in Cristiano Ronaldo’s new contract to ward off potential buyers. (News of the World)
Yes that will stop those rumors.
Meanwhile, United are keen to land Sevilla’s £25m-rated right-back Dani Alves. The 24-year-old was stopped from moving to Chelsea last summer when his club turned down the Blues’ offer. (News of the World)
I’m sure Wes Brown would be thrilled to hear this news.
Tottenham will make a British record £10m bid for PSV Eindhoven keeper Heurelho Gomes. (Sunday Mail)
Good goalie and good start in the retooling of this Tottenham team.
If Gomes joins Spurs, then Middlesbrough are keen to relieve them of England stopper Paul Robinson, 29, to replace 35-year-old Mark Schwarzer whose contract runs out in June. (News of the World)
Paul Robinson needs a new challenge. Middlesbrough would be a good fit for the player.
Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones is attracting interest from Chelsea, Portsmouth, Manchester City and Arsenal, despite only scoring seven goals this season. Jones moved to the Stadium of Light eight months ago for £6m and signed a four-year deal. (Sunday Express)
Better off staying at Sunderland. He’ll feature week in and week out. If he moves out Jones wouldn’t see regular playing time.
Newcastle are tracking Liverpool’s out-of-favour winger Jermaine Pennant and Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner. (News of the World)
Pennant and Newcastle would make a good fit.
Italian side Udinese are also ready to offload striker Fabio Quagliarella for £15m. Tottenham are facing competition from AC and Inter Milan for the 25-year-old’s signature. (News of the World)
If AC and Inter Milan come calling Quagliarella is not going to choose Tottenham.
Benfica full-back Nelson has issued a “come and get me” plea to Aston Villa. (News of the World)
Villa should come and get him. He won’t break the bank and would link up well with Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor.
