While injuries are never great timing, if you are going to go down for awhile best to have it happen at the start of the year. New England will now be able to get a closer look at some of their other forwards which should make for a better team when Twellman returns.

Old rivals meet in Primetime opener

Seemingly annual rivals in the MLS Cup Playoffs, the Chicago Fire kick off the home portion of their new season when they play host to the New England Revolution in the first ESPN MLS Primetime Thursday broadcast of the year.

Both teams try to attack the goal which should make for an enjoyable game. The Fire got a last minute goal on the weekend by Cuauhtemoc Blanco and the lift that goal provided could easily carry over into this game. Even without Taylor Twellman had the home crowd and momentum to defeat Houston 3-0. Look for the loss of Twellman to start playing an effect in this game.

Quakes set to return against Galaxy

After a two-year absence from Major League Soccer, the San Jose Earthquakes return to action against their fiercest rival – the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Usually an expansion team in there first game has some sort of cosmic advantage that leads them to a win, only to lose the next five. With LA being handed a 4-0 loss to Colorado I don’t believe the Galaxy will grant there former coach, Frank Yallop new team his first win in the new San Jose Earthquake era.

Sinnacle Prediction LA 2 – 0
